The life cycle of the dogs is similar to the rest of the living beings: as soon as we are born, we begin to walk towards disappearance. There’s no need to panic: the trick is to enjoy life and to get to know about the various phases of growth to take advantage of. This is useful to both humans and dogs.
It’s been a while now since popular wisdom decided that a dog year is seven human years. Although in HANNIKO we know that this equivalence cannot be applied to all dog breeds, by rule, dogs do not last alive more than fifteen years. And as they also get gray hair, this means that they’ll have it earlier than humans do.
Now, if your dog is still young and he starts to get gray hair, we recommend you to consult ir with your veterinarian, just in case. Because basically there are three problematic circumstances that promote the premature appearance of gray hair in dogs:
Stress
Specific episodes of stress or anxiety (the death of a loved one, the arrival of a baby …), factors that last over time such as loneliness, or even the nervousness of their owners can generate psychological disorders in pets.
Nutrition
Our dog must be well fed. That is, neither little nor much but with the necessary nutrients for their breed, age, activity, etc. Find out what is the best food for him, whether you make it yourself or buy it.
Water
Excessive levels of chlorine in water can promote the appearance of gray hair in our animals. Make sure of the quality of the water that you consume.
Keep this in mind before ignoring the appearance of premature graying of your pet. If he is seven years old or older, do not be alarmed, that is the average age of gray hair in dogs.
